More than 150,000 visitors turned up at this mega auto show organised by Singapore Press Holdings. Featuring over 100 exhibitor booths spread across Singapore Expo Halls 3 and 4, the event lived up to its promise of having double the deals and twice the thrill of last year’s edition.

There was a spectacular range of cars — both new and pre-owned — accessories, motoring gear and lifestyle products on display. Popular brands included Volkswagen, Audi, Mazda, Honda, Citroen, Subaru, Renault, Nissan, Peugeot and Ford, which showcased the latest models.

The two-day event kicked off on April 26 with bargain hunters showing up early, eager to suss out the best deals. One distributor recorded 10 cars sold within the first hour. There was a steady stream of car buyers on both days. Not all were looking for smaller or budget cars.

Premium car dealers recorded brisk sales too. One distributor said he sold about 10 big cars, each worth between $200,000 and $300,000 in the two days. In all, around 800 deals were signed last weekend. The mega auto show chalked up around $90 million in sales.

Mr Tan Ooi Boon, the head of SPH’s Integrated Sales and Print Classified, said: “We are extremely gratified to be able to put together this mega car show to bring the best deals to the public. We are thankful to all our exhibitors who have been most generous in giving visitors a good buying experience. And judging from the hundreds of happy faces, many visitors left with their dream cars bought at the best prices.”

Mr Soon Chuan Whai and his wife were thrilled with the deal they got. They traded in their nine-year-old Toyota Altis for a brand new Volkswagen Jetta at $112,300. Mr Soon said: “The Cars@Expo was timely as we have been waiting for the right car at the right price. With the wide range of cars from different brands all on display, the event made car shopping convenient and enjoyable. The Jetta has a very comfortable interior with a luxurious finish. I find it a good value buy.”

Due to the good response, Cars@Expo is rolling out more great deals and irresistible buys in a special edition on new cars later this year.
