By 2017, the 2G network will eventually be phased out. Therefore, the switch to smartphones is inevitable and seniors need more guidance to be use them.
To educate seniors on this new technology, Shin Min Daily News and Lianhe Wanbao, together with Singtel, organised the “Smartphone & You” workshop. More than 200 seniors gathered at the SPH News Centre Auditorium to learn more about using smartphones to enhance their lifestyles.
The workshop is a series of three sessions, with the first session on Oct 25 receiving an overwhelming response.
At the workshop, hosted by UFM100.3 DJs Anna Lim and Vincent Lim, the audience learned to navigate the common mobile applications, including social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.
The new communication app launched by Singtel, Wavee, was also introduced at the event and the audience had fun trying out the apps.
The next two workshops will be held on Dec 19 and March 12 next year.
