Discovering heritage roots over a sumptuous spread

In conjunction with the SG50 celebrations, the three Chinese dailies — Lianhe Zaobao, Shin Min Daily News and Lianhe Wanbao — organised a heritage banquet to reignite the spirit of Chinese heritage in a gastronomic showcase that reconnected participants to their roots.

Presented by established health supplement brand Vita Green and supported by Mandarin Orchard Singapore, this event garnered and an overwhelming response, with seats snapped up by more than 500 readers within one-and-a-half weeks after registration opened.

This Heritage Banquet presented a rare combination of authentic Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Cantonese and Hainanese cuisines, accompanied by exquisite wines sponsored by Ang Leong Huat, and cultural performances representing each of the four main dialects.  The menu was conceptualised by renowned food critic Alan Ng and Mandarin Orchard Hotel’s Executive Sous Chef Liew Tian Heong.

With a combined reach of more than 1.02 million readers, the three SPH Chinese newspapers have been effective in forging closer connections with target audiences and create great visibility for brands and companies.

Mr John Tan, Business Development Manager of Vita Green Singapore, said: “It's such a meaningful event for all us from different dialect groups to gather together to find our roots and celebrate SG50 together. Thank you very much to the three SPH Chinese Newspapers for inviting Vita Green to present the event and to invite us for such a sumptuous lunch!”
