Enjoying adrenaline-pumping rides with The New Paper SUVival

Close to 100 SUVs were flagged off in The New Paper SUVival Challenge 2015 from SPH News Centre on April 25 before the crack of dawn.

Participants had to go through three segments: solve puzzles at various Road Challenge checkpoints to obtain coordinates for their next destinations, conquer high and wet obstacles at Adventure Challenge including river-crossing and flying-fox as well as put their driving skills and SUVs to the test in the Off-Road Challenge.

This year’s Off-Road Challenge proved to be 10 times tougher and more exciting than the previous editions of TNP SUVival Challenges. There were seven compulsory Off-Road Challenges at the Combat Zone, including Log It, which required teamwork between the driver and a passenger; the Up & Down station, which tested the steering skills of the driver.  There was also the Twilight Zone, which was specially staged by Jeep.  This zone consisted of higher-intensity obstacles that gave participants with 4-wheel-drive vehicles an unimaginable adrenaline rush.

The event concluded successfully at Royale Bintang Resort & Spa, Seremban, with a “Jungle-theme” gala dinner. Mr Edmund Lee, with his wife Chrishirl Campos and three children, Emmanuel, Eduard & Elliot, emerged as the champion team of the 10th edition of TNP SUVival Challenge.  The Lee family won $3,000 cash, a Curve Prestige 100 Action Cam, 1 year Bardahl servicing package, $200 Autobac Hamper, a Jeep Remote Control Car and a Jeep Trunk Organiser.

For the adventure-seekers who wanted to experience driving in pitch darkness, the organiser specially arranged a night trail through the jungle for them.
