The first weekend of December saw thrilling matches as 150 teams battled it out on the futsal pitches at the Home United Youth Football Academy (HYFA) for the BeritaHarian.sg National Futsal Championship 2016.

In the third edition of the games, over 1,000 players in six categories (U-12, U-15, U-18, U-35, A-45, and Women) played in the 7-a-side tournament on Dec 3 and 4. This included teams from all over Singapore as well as from Malaysia and Indonesia.

With family and friends cheering the players on, as well as activities such as a photobooth by NKF, and enjoyable games and contests by H-TWO-O, the atmosphere during the championship was both sporting and fun.

The event’s Guest of Honour, Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, joined the Berita Harian editorial staff in a friendly game against Perkamus, a group of Malay musicians and singers. The game ended in a 4-4 draw, with Mr Tan scoring two of his team’s goals.
