Investment tips for the Year of the Monkey

Singapore saw slow growth last year. Will the economy recover in 2016? Will this year’s bank interest rates rise? Will the property cooling measures be relaxed? Will oil prices rebound? Will the Singapore dollar and regional currencies continue to fluctuate?

To help readers analyse the economic trajectory in 2016, Lianhe Zaobao’s Business Desk invited experts in various fields to speak at the eighth edition of the Chinese investment seminar on February 27 at the HDB Hub Auditorium in Toa Payoh.

The four speakers — Dr Tan Khee Giap of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, investment experts Tan Zhiyong of MCC Land, Roger Tan of Voyage Research and Tommy Xie of OCBC Bank — presented an overview of the economic outlook, and reviewed the performance of the different investment tools, including the potential market risks to avoid and the key strategies to protect and maximise investments.

The half-day seminar attracted over 480 attendees, and over 95 per cent commended the speakers and said they would attend the seminar again next year for more updates.

Mr Goh Sin Teck, Lianhe Zaobao editor, said: “We always strive to present timely and relevant topics that will interest our readers. We are happy with the turnout and we thank our sponsor, MCC Land, who participated in the seminar. Certainly, the event has enabled them to reach out to these keen investors.”
