MyPaper Advance Seminar – investing across the causeway

Weighing in on the recent property cooling measures implemented by the Malaysian government, the MyPaper Advance Series 2014 held a seminar titled “The Smarter Way to Buying Properties in Malaysia”.

Sponsored by Hatten Group, the seminar was conducted on Feb 15 at the SPH News Centre Auditorium.

Three distinguished speakers were invited to share their insights about Malaysia’s property market to 250 participants.

Mr Donald Han, Managing Director of Chesterton Singapore started the proceedings with his topic, "Impact of Rail Transit System (RTS) to Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC) and why JBCC may outperform the rest of Iskandar region".

He was followed by Mr Kenny Tan, Head Channel Strategy and Business Alliance of OCBC Bank, who shared tips on how to "Finance your Property Purchase".

The final speaker of the day, Ms Cassandra Tio, Head, Sales & Marketing, Hatten Group Sdn Bhd, covered how the new cooling measures would affect investor's attitudes towards properties in Malaysia and highlighted that "the trick is to look at the mid- and long-term prospects of a property, instead of seeing it as a short-term investment.”

The session was wrapped up with a panel discussion by the speakers. Participants who were interested in Malaysian properties also had a first-hand look at the projects developed by Hatten Group.
