My Paper helps PMEs to advance

About 100 readers attended the My Paper Advance Education Series seminar at SPH News Centre Auditorium on Jan 24.

Opening the seminar, Dr Joao Paulo Ponciano, senior vice-president of PSB Academy, pointed out that job promotions are not given and that employees will have to create and manage their own career paths. "The biggest mistake anyone can make is to wait for a promotion to arrive, because sometimes that promotion will never arrive," he said.

"Throughout the year, make sure you keep a log of work activity and be clear in identifying your work with the values of the company on your log,” he added.

The aim of the event was to provide young working professionals with valuable knowledge in terms of employability and adding values in their workplaces. Readers were also treated to a tea-break session and a goodie bag.

Mr John Heng, a senior lecturer at PSB Academy, gave advice on how people could create value for themselves and their careers while Shirley Taylor, chief executive of STTS Training spoke on mistakes that people make when writing at the workplace.

Seminar presenter PSB Academy's senior marketing manager Jesslyn Aw, said: "This is the first time PSB Academy has collaborated with My Paper to organise an Advanced Education Seminar. The overall event was well-managed and we are very glad to be the exclusive partner. The event serves as a good platform for us to profile both our school and promote our offerings to the working professionals. We look forward to more opportunities of such collaboration where we can increase our exposure among the working adults."
