More than 16,000 SMS entries were received in ONE FM’s Big Ones contest, a radio contest run by ONE FM 91.3, which gave away six money-can’t-buy experiences.
The coveted experiences were a Hotel Football Old Trafford Experience for two and a chance to catch Manchester United vs Leicester City live; Guns N’ Roses Live in Mexico City for two; a trip for two to WWE Live in Tokyo, Japan; a trip for two to Motorcycle Grand Prix in Le Mans, France; the Ultimate 11-day Games of Thrones experience for two in Scotland; and a trip for two to Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago, featuring bands such Red Hot Chilli Pepper, The 1975, Nothing But Thieves and more.
Flights and accommodation were included. Each prize had a two-week-long promotion that spanned on-air, online and print ads, as well as ground platforms.
Understanding what appealed to its target audience of men aged 30 years old and above, the experiences were created to give lucky listeners a memorable and unforgettable experience. These listeners then became the station’s advocates helping to promote it through word-of-mouth and their own social media pages as they were required to post pictures of their experience online.
Brands including Rowsley Pte Ltd, Trafalgar, Motul Singapore and LAMC Productions, who sponsored the experiences, also benefited via the extensive exposure they received through ONE FM Big Ones contest. It also buildt brand awareness and drove listenership for ONE FM 91.3, as the radio station is perceived to be the only one with the most exciting giveaways.
