The annual ST Run, organised by The Straits Times, is back for the third year. It will be held on Sunday, Sept 27.
A new feature in this year's ST Run at The Hub is the introduction of an 18.45km category, to mark the 170th anniversary of The Straits Times and the year it was founded. The route will take runners on a journey through time, via music, images and headlines from the national newspaper over the past years.
The other two categories are the 5km and 10km runs.
Runners in the 18.45km and 10km categories will also enjoy scenic routes, winding through landmarks such as the Singapore Flyer, Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, before ending at the National Stadium.
Said Mr Warren Fernandez, editor of The Straits Times: "You have seen the athletes breaking records, winning medals, or enjoyed the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies at the recent SEA Games. Now, you too can have your own memorable moment as you finish your run in the stadium. For many of those who took part last year, this was a highlight, and an inspiration to keep going till the finishing line."
Added organising committee chairman Marc Lim, who is also The Straits Times’ sports editor: "The National Stadium was the source of so much excitement and joy during the SEA Games that, when it came to selecting a venue for this year's run, there was only one place we had in mind.”
Mr Tan Ooi Boon, deputy head of Singapore Press Holdings' Marketing division, said: "We are extremely grateful to Panasonic Singapore, Sports Hub and all our run partners for their support in turning ST Run into one of Singapore's best events. Expect more fun and excitement as we strive to create more activities, contests and giveaways as we celebrate SG50 as well as ST's 170th anniversary."
Winners stand to take home a Panasonic 55" Smart TV, a Panasonic Lumix Communication camera and a lot more. All runners will get a medal, a limited edition New Balance 'NB Dry' running vest and more.
