SME leaders get insights into Budget 2016

300 SMEs delegates attended the inaugural Lianhe Zaobao Singapore Budget 2016 Business Forum, organised by Lianhe Zaobao, on April 26 at Marina Mandarin Singapore.

The business forum, conducted in Mandarin, targets bosses and directors of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), offering them the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of Budget 2016 and its implications on the development of their businesses.

Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat engaged the audiences in a dialogue at the forum, which was moderated by Mr Goh Sin Teck, editor of Lianhe Zaobao. They were joined by Mr Thomas Chua Kee Seng, president of Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Mr Kurt Wee, president of Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Apart from the “Dialogue with Minister”, the participants also gained insights from the panel discussion with Mr Kenny Yap, executive chairman, Qian Hu Corporation; Mr Pek Ee Perh Thomas, managing director, Tai Hua Food Industries; Mr Hoon Thing Leong, chairman, Kim San Leng Group; and Ms Annie Gan, founder and managing director, Jian Huang Group of Companies. The panelists shared their views on how SMEs can leverage the benefits of Budget.

Mr Jimmy Koh, head of Global Economics and Markets Research, UOB, talked about the “Changing Dynamics for Singapore SMEs", while Ms Goh Siow Hui, partner, Tax, Ernst & Young Solutions LLP, spoke on the topic, “How can SMEs seize opportunities in adversity?"
