Singapore, 8 May 2019 – Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) received 5 awards at the 18th Asian Media Awards (AMA) 2019. These awards aim to promote the highest publishing standards in the fields of newspaper and magazine design, info-graphics, printing, editorial content, marketing, community service and photojournalism.
The Straits Times (ST), SPH’s English-language flagship daily walked away with three awards including Best in Photojournalism: Feature Photography for its coverage on the Rohingya Refugees. Likewise, Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of SPH won two awards including Best in Photojournalism: Sport Photography for its coverage on motor-sports.

Mr Warren Fernandez, Editor-in-Chief of SPH’s English/ Malay/ Tamil Media Group and Editor of The Straits Times dedicated the win for the readers. “Good stories call for good projection and design, with photos, visuals and graphics helping to tell the story well.
