Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has named media veteran Phin Wong as its new Head of Content Marketing, with the key responsibility of driving the media group’s monetisation strategy in the growing area of sponsored content.
Wong will lead SPH’s content marketing unit SWEET, sharpening its focus on delivering client-focused solutions that can be deployed with ease across formats that flow seamlessly into SPH titles, audience segments and platforms.
Reporting directly to SPH Chief Commercial Officer Ignatius Low, Wong takes over the reins from Geoff Tan, who is retiring this July a year after he was appointed acting head of the unit. With Wong’s appointment, Linda Lim will relinquish oversight of content marketing and SWEET, allowing her to focus on partnerships and business development.
Wong was previously from Mediacorp’s CNA where he was Supervising Editor for CNA Lifestyle & CNA Luxury. Before that, he founded and ran Mediacorp’s content marketing unit, Brand Studio. In all, he has more than 20 years’ experience producing both independent editorial content and sponsored content, working across digital, social, print, radio and television.
SPH Chief Commercial Officer Ignatius Low said: “We are excited to have Phin as part of SPH Media Solutions’ senior leadership team. His intuitive understanding of the interplay between earned media and paid media and how to artfully deploy both will complement our mix of perspectives from the buy-side, sell-side, and newsroom editorial as SPH continues to evolve a unique value proposition aimed at delivering results that matter to our clients.”
