Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) took the number one spot in Marketing magazine’s yearly Media of the Year report’s News Publisher / Broadcaster of the Year category.
SPH emerged on top, amid a strong field of local and international media companies that include Mediacorp, BBC, CNN, and The Wall Street Journal Asia.
The magazine notes that the report, published in its October 2019 issue, delves into companies that have “captured the hearts and attention of marketers in Singapore”.
The Media of the Year rankings were based on the results of Marketing’s annual Media Spend Benchmarking Survey. More than 300 individuals, the majority of whom are client-side marketers, completed the online questionnaire. These include VP/directors (30%) and CEO/MD (11%).
SPH Deputy CEO Anthony Tan said: “We are delighted that SPH was deemed the top news publisher by marketing professionals, especially given the core nature of our business. Likewise, seeing our other brands in the top 5 is also a testament to the strength of our network. SPH’s various brands also ranked highly in the report’s other categories.
In the Radio Broadcaster of the Year category, two of SPH Radio’s stations emerged in the top 5, with Kiss92 FM and MONEY FM 89.3 ranked second and fifth respectively.
SPH Magazine’s Her World was ranked second in the Magazine of the Year category, behind Bloomberg Businessweek.
Home & Decor magazine and property portal SRX were also in the top 5 of the Website/App of the Year for Property Buyers category, taking the third and fifth spots on the list.
