SPH Digital Division’s Show & Tell with Group M

SPH’s Digital Division organised a Show and Tell session with Group M on June 5 to share the upcoming product revamp of AsiaOne and ST Digital, along with sales opportunities and case studies that were done for the Group M family of agencies. About 50 staff from Mindshare, MEC, MediaCom and Maxus attended the presentation that was held at Group M’s office in Cross Street.

The day before the presentation, The Straits Times announced that a major revamp is in place to celebrate its 170th anniversary where a new look and new features will be rolled out across the print newspaper, website, mobile and tablet apps.  Mr Eugene Leow, Digital Editor of The Straits Times, hence took the opportunity to share some new changes ranging from aesthetical elements such as layout, the use of a specially designed font, the inclusion of a metered paywall as well as content and product development strategies.

The new metered paywall model would allow non-subscribers to read stories in full up to a certain limit monthly. This is to encourage more sharing on the social media front and giving readers the freedom to choose the stories they want to read – instead of the current freemium model where editors choose which stories they want readers to consume. Also, news will be updated to the minute with the all new listings widget, ST Live, on the homepage.

As part of AsiaOne’s 20th anniversary celebration, AsiaOne’s editor Adrian Tay, also introduced their revamp that will be launched at the end of June. Changes include a new desktop design which will showcase editorial specials and sponsored content where needed, mobile-friendly webpages, as well as a relaunch of the AsiaOne mobile app that will feature a more intuitive design with sections for sponsorship and advertising opportunities. Other offerings include Newslite which contains condensed versions of the news for mobile snackers and the return of the 8th edition of the AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards in 2016 that recognises the best brands and services voted by readers.

Apart from Group M, SPH Digital will also be conducting more roving Show & Tell sessions at Agencies such as OMD (June 17), Starcom Mediavest (June 23), ZenithOptimedia (June 25) and UM (June 30).
