SPH takes newspaper power to the next level

SPH celebrated the future of print this year with Printnovation 2016 at the Raffles Convention Centre on May 26. The event saw over 400 guests, including advertisers and media agencies. With the aim of staying current in the ever changing media landscape, SPH Newspapers introduced some of its new and latest technologies - AdNet, AdBid, Interactive Newspapers and Variable Print.

Guests were introduced to SPH AdBid that will be launched in July.  It is a new ad bidding platform that provided the trade with a fresh take on buying newspaper advertisement spaces.

SPH AdNet, a hassle free and efficient way to book advertisements, was re-introduced as the web version. Accredited media agencies can look forward to getting 'webified' once AdNet launches!

Variable Print is a technology that allows advertisers to communicate a variety of messages to consumers within the same advertisement, on the same day.  This state-of-the-art technology was demonstrated with a copy of an exclusive personalised newspaper presented to each guest.

Putting a little magic in print, the SPH Interactive Newspapers recently won first place for Best Execution of Print Advertising at this year’s INMA Global Media Awards.  Leveraging on technology, an exact digital replica of the newspaper was developed to add interactivity and animation to the advertisements to better engage readers. These innovations seek to enable newspapers in print format to maintain their print revenue model, increase readership online, and extend the reach of the advertisements to a wider audience beyond the newspaper online and physical copy circulation. The interactive features allow readers to contact advertisers via one-touch call, messaging, e-mail, or go directly to the advertisers' website.

Ms Li Sar Soh, Manager, Brand & Marketing said: "News readers today have different behaviors and needs, and SPH has taken the lead to understand that and introduce disruptive technology into what used to be a one-way medium - turning it into a multimedia, interactive platform. As an advertiser, this paves the way for more breakthrough marketing campaigns; and as a reader, the innovations will no doubt change the way we consume news and marketing information in the long run.”
