Some of Asia’s top entertainment movers and shakers were in action at a special celebration party for the Singapore Entertainment Awards (SEA) 2014 (新加坡e乐大赏) at The Coliseum™, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore®, Resorts World Sentosa, on May 17.
The SEA is organised by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and fronted by SPH’s leading Chinese entertainment media platforms Lianhe Wanbao, UFM 100.3, omy.sg and U-Weekly. The SEA, into its sixth year, honours the best talents of the Asian entertainment scene.
Making their appearance at the 3,000-strong crowd celebration party were some of the hottest names today. Headlining the show was Henry from Korean pop group Super Junior-M, who bagged the Best New Artist from Asia and Most Popular K-pop Music Video for “Trap.” Super Junior M, also won the Most Popular Group.
Other attending stars included Alien Huang, Jia Jia Lollipop@F (Taiwan); Ruco Chan (Hong Kong); Issac Dang (Malaysia) as well as Ling Kai and Budak Pantai (Singapore).
Alien Huang from Taiwan swept three popularity awards – Most Popular Male Singer, Most Popular Music Video (Chinese Pop) and omy Hot Star – making him one of the big winners at this year's awards. His compatriot Jia Jia also successfully clinched the Best Female Singer award with her first nomination in this category.
A total of 35 awards were presented this year; 13 awards from the “Best” award categories judged by a panel of respected professionals in the entertainment and media industry in Singapore and the region, and 15 "Most Popular" awards, which were determined by SMS or online voting. A total of 2.95 million votes were received online and via SMS during the voting period from Feb 27 to April 9. 5 prestigious "Media" awards recognising outstanding achievement were also announced. The celebration party also saw 2 subsidiary awards sponsored by iAPPS being presented.
