More than 350, including executives, policymakers, academics, businessmen, diplomats and ST subscribers, attended The Straits Times Global Outlook Forum held at the Raffles City Convention Centre on Nov 28.
This year's forum was the first full-day event since the annual forum started seven years ago. The theme centred on "2019: Trade wars and tensions - navigating global turbulence".
Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing was the keynote speaker. Straits Times correspondents and invited experts discussed four major themes for 2019: peace overtures on the Korean Peninsula, the US-China trade war and political pressures on the global economy, climate change, and the outlook for Malaysia and Indonesia.
Malaysian politician Khairy Jamaluddin of the opposition Umno Party gave a special address and also joined in the panel discussion.
OCBC Premier Banking was the presenting sponsor, with support from Mercedes-Benz as the official car.
