Top marks for Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao

Teacher’s Day this year was extra special, as Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao jointly organised a luncheon at Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee on September 4 and 5 to thank teachers for a year of hard work.

Close to 200 readers and guests from the two Chinese dailies had the rare opportunity to enjoy a sumptuous Teochew cuisine menu specially customised by the boss of Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee, Mr Lee Chiang Howe, and renowned Chinese food critic Alan Ng, who is popularly known as Ah Lun. Mr Lee also unveiled the stories behind the dishes created.

Ms Jasmine Lee from Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee, said: “We think that it has been a good experience partnering with Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao to celebrate Teacher's Day this year.  It has not been the first time that we have worked with Alan and are delighted to work with him again. Mr Lee is familiar with Ah Lun's working style, so they make a strong team. They had a strong team synergy during the planning and execution of the event and so, the Teacher's Day Luncheon was a successful one. When Mr Lee and Ah Lun were on stage, they were able to captivate the audience's attention with their humor and knowledge of traditional Teochew food.”
