Transforming businesses for growth

Oct 25, 2019

To succeed in business today, modern enterprises need to transform and improve their digitalisation and continuously train staff to enhance existing skill sets.

This was the key focus of the Skillsfuture Business Seminar with Lianhe Zaobao, held on Oct 23 at the SPH News Centre.

At the seminar conducted in Mandarin, industry experts shared insights with 140 SME bosses, management, and staff on how to enhance their digital presence and facilitate exponential growth of brand value.

The 3 speakers from manufacturing and retail industries were:

  • Mr Tan Pok Kiam – KH Roberts Group, General Manager – Sales & Group Marketing
  • Mr Jeff Soon – OCTOBOX, CEO
  • Mr Goh Thiam Chwee of Koh Huat Song Kee Fish Agent Pte Ltd, Managing Director

“战略胜于一切。 科技虽然重要,但不是最 重要的。在数码化之前要 想战略。我到底为什么要 数码化?是因为运营非常 复杂或很依赖人工,还是 销售面向太多客户,每个 市场都请业务员不实际?”

“In order for businesses to flourish, strategising is key. Although digital transformation is important, businesses should first think about relevancy and reasons for embarking on a digital transformation journey. Ask the right questions i.e. Are operations too complex or rely too heavily on manual staff hence the need to digitalise? Is it unrealistic to hire individual salespersons to manage each industry should variety be too great?” said Mr Tan Pok Kiam, General Manager, Sales & Group Marketing, KH Roberts Group.

Attendees were also presented with the opportunity to share their opinions and experiences with each other through a roundtable discussion session. To ensure maximum effectiveness of the learning journey, the programme concluded with a panel discussion cum Q&A to address queries from the floor.

The panel discussion was moderated by Mr Ting Kheng Siong (Associate Chief Sub-Editor, CMG Newshub) and supported by Ms Peggy Lim (Director, Enterprise Engagement Office, SkillsFuture Singapore).

The seminar was organised by SkillsFuture Singapore, with Lianhe Zaobao as media partner.
