Berita Harian’s inaugural travel seminar on Oct 31 was attended by over 200 Muslim travel buffs who are planning their year-end holidays.
Speakers from the travel industry addressed questions such as where are the best places to find Halal food in Gold Coast, how much it costs to embark on a pilgrimage to Mecca and what the latest airfare deals and travel promotions are?
For just $10 per person, participants got expert insights, know-how and interesting experiences on travelling to popular destinations such as Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan and Mecca.
This seminar featured six speakers — Ms Noor Aine Ismail (Director, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board), Mr Jalaluddin Hassan (Vice-President, AMTAS); Ms Stella Pok (Marketing Manager, Tourism Queensland); Mr Mohamad Rafi Hassan (Assistant Manager, Free and Easy, CTC Travel); Mr Mohamed Yusoff (Travel Consultant); and Ms Shariffah Munirah Mohsen (Sales Representative, SilkAir).
Mr Jalaluddin Hassan shared with readers how to find and enjoy halal food while overseas, followed by a guide on choosing suitable Hajj and Umrah travel packages. Participant Saharah Osman found his session "informative and educational".
Ms Noor Anne Ismail then presented Malaysia's appeal in its mix of the old and new. Attendees got an exclusive sneak peek at some of Malaysia's upcoming tourist attractions and events.
The event ended with a lucky draw segment, where eight readers walked away with travel and hotel vouchers. The grand prize was a pair of return SilkAir economy class tickets.
This seminar was held in conjunction with partners Chan Brothers, CTC Travel, Tourism Queensland, Scoot Air, SilkAir and Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board.
